Through this web site the Embassy would like to give you some information about the Italian presence in the area and also about the five Countries of accreditation (Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Niger and Sierra Leone).

Moreover, the Embassy of Italy would like to make information related to its services more accessible to citizens from the Countries of accreditation and to Italian citizens resident in this area. You can find a wide section relating to consular issues but also some information about Italian co-operation development initiatives or about economic and trade relations between Italy and the Countries of accreditation.

Italy and Italian people have always received great esteem and sympathy by those five Countries. Several works – such as the dam of Kossou or the St. Paul Cathedral in Abidjan, the hydro-electricity project of Bumbuna in Sierra Leone, the Keita rural development programme in Niger or important health and rural development projects in Burkina Faso - have been realized by the Italian governmental development co-operation or by Italian companies. Furthermore, numerous humanitarian activities are carried out by our religious missionaries. Italian fashion, art, products are of increasing interest for this area.

Therefore, there are many reasons to look with interest to this region, which has strong potentialities waiting for the consolidation of the political climate in order to express themselves.
