Dear visitors,
the wide and remarkable growth in the Information Technology sector and the quick spread of internet have made it in such a way that the general public and particularly the users of the public services expect more, or better still insist on the easy access to various services on line.
The activation of the website of the Embassy of Italy in Accra is the logical result of this new scenario and is in accordance with the policy of improvement of institutional communication that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been pursuing for many years with a remarkable effort in the computerization of its headquarter and the diplomatic missions abroad.
In this period, during which Ghana is preparing  for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of its independence acquired in 1957, before any other sub-saharan African Country, I am particularly pleased to inaugurate this innovative tool, that will enable have easy access to the Embassy, not only to Italian and Ghanaian citizens, but  also to anyone in the world who will have interest in visiting it or also just for simple curiosity satisfaction.
As anyone visiting our site could see, Ghana is a leading Country in West Africa, the most populated one after Nigeria, sure of the stability of its own democratic institutions, valued by the financial organizations for its promising political economy and for displaying a chief character on International scene for its important contribution to stability and peace on the African Continent.
Italy is an historic partner of Ghana: italian entrepreneurs have significantly taken part in the development of the Country far before its independence in 1957; the biggest infrastructural work in Ghana, the Akosombo dam on the Volta River was built by an Italian firm; a large and well integrated number of Ghanaians are settled in our Country. They are therefore many reasons for which  Ghana should be taken into consideration.  The memorable visit to Italy in October 2006 of the Ghanaian President Kufuor – the first within the seven year mandate of President Napolitano and the first of a Ghanaian President - thus  gives way to new stimulant developments.
The Embassy of Italy, though conscious of  the limited resources available, intends to be a reference to all those who in one way or the other would like to take part in those developments. Together with the staff of the Embassy of Italy in Accra, I am delighted to warmly welcome  you to our website. Any suggestion from you towards its improvement is also welcome and will be taken into great consideration.
