
Born in Ancona on March 23rd, 1952
He graduated in Political Sciences from the University of Florence in 1974.
In 1976 he attended a post-graduate course at Johns Hopkins University in Bologna.
In 1977 he was appointed First Lieutenant, Military Navy.
In 1978, he joined the Foreign Service and served at the Directorate General of Economic Affairs and at the Information and Press Department.
During the first assignments abroad, he worked as Second Secretary in Mexico City, from 1981 to 1985, as Consul in Bastia (France), from 1985 to 1987, and as Counselor in Ankara until 1990.
In 1990 he came back to the Ministry where he served at the Directorate General of Political Affairs (for the relations with Central-East European countries)
In 1993, he was appointed Embassy Counselor and he received the decoration of the “Official Knight” (Cavaliere Ufficiale dell’Ordine al Merito) in 1995.
From 1995 to 1999, he was appointed First Counselor at the Italian Permanent Representation at the European Union in Brussels and after that First Counselor in Ankara.
From 2001 to 2006, he served as the Diplomatic Counselor of the Minister for Productive Works. During this task, he was also member of the board of directors of Alitalia, from 2003 to 2006.
In 2002, he was promoted to the grade of Minister Plenipotentiary. From October 2006, he is the Italian Ambassador in Beirut.
