
Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi was born in Naples on November 28th, 1961. After graduating from law, he entered the Foreign Service in 1988.
He subsequently served in the General Directorate for Economic Affairs and at the Italian Embassy in Beirut.
From December 1994 until June 1999 he worked at the Italian Representation to the European Union in Brussels.
In Rome again from 1999, he went on working on EU issues and above all on the preparation of the EU Constitution that had been signed in Rome in the end of October 2004.
During these ten years, devoted to the European Union construction, Ambassador Buccino wrote one book and many articles dealing with enlargement, institutional reforms, the Convention on the future of Europe and the Intergovernmental Conference that lead to the European Constitution. He was also visiting professor in many Italian universities.
In April 2004 he was appointed as Italian Ambassador to Qatar, with a view to further strengthening the already excellent bilateral relations.
