Language courses
The Consular Offices organize courses of Italian language and culture, aimed especially at British nationals of Italian origin. The teaching service is coordinated by the School Offices.
There are three categories of courses:
- Out-of-school-time courses. They’re held in the afternoon, after school time, or on Saturday. They are aimed at students of Italian origin.
- Integrated courses. The courses are held during school time and the teaching programme is part of the National Curriculum.
- Extra-curricular courses. They are held in British schools as extracurricular optional studies.
Relations with the local school authorities.
The Consulate and the School Offices also provide advice to Italian families with reference to school issues (change of school, repatriation etc.); support, promote and organize training and updating courses for language courses teachers.
School Offices act in cooperation with local school associations and committees, which receive funding from the Italian government. The most important committee is the COASIT based in London.
