The financial sector consists of around 400 operators (both public and private) and employs around 10,000 people with and average yearly growth of 9%. The dimension and importance generated important real estate projects such as:

• Bahrain Financial Harbour, an area where companies, bodies and institutions of the financial sector are concentrated. The first phase of the project was inaugurated in 2007;
• Bahrain International Investment Park (BIIP), an area of 155,000 square meters which will be built with the purpose of attracting and facilitate investments. The companies which will establish in the BIIP will enjoy financial benefits such as tax exemption for 10 years or land rent at symbolic prices (just to name a few);
• Bahrain International Insurance Centre, part of Bahrain Financial Harbour, where there will be a concentration of insurance companies. The insurance sector is one of the most important to the Kingdom of Bahrain and the purpose of this project is to encourage a further development also through the attraction of international operators.
