CONSTRUCTION

The construction industry in Bahrain had a boom in the last years also thanks to the strong demand for infrastructure from the financial sector and generally speaking from the service sector. Several real estate projects are dedicated to financial and investment hubs, a significant number is allocated for the tourist sector and a lot of the new constructions are residential buildings. In October 2006 three new projects for 2 billion dollars have been officially launched:  

• Health Island, an area dedicated to health services;
• Sarai Project, two hotel and office towers;
• A tourist complex south-west of Manama in the proximity of Al Jazayer coastal area.  

The intense activity of the construction industry generates a high offer for jobs in the sector, especially for engineers and labourers. Most of this workforce though comes from abroad.
