
TREATIES LAST THREE YEARS
The commercial agreements stipulated between Italy and the Kingdom of Bahrain are the following:
- Agreement on the promotion and protection of investments, signed on the 29th of October 2006 by Hon. Emma Bonino, Italian Minister for International Commerce and European Policies, and by Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al Khalifa, Minister for Finance of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The purpose of the agreement is to foster the economic cooperation between the two Countries, particularly in regards to investment funds of investors from one of the two countries in the territory of the other contracting Country. The agreement has duration of 10 years and it is renewed automatically for the same duration, unless one of the contracting parties expresses the will to withdraw from it according to the terms set by the agreement.
- Agreement on equality of treatment on anchorage and port taxes, signed on the 7th of December 2006 by Italian Ambassador Calogero Di Gesù and by Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al Khalifa, Minister for Finance of the Kingdom of Bahrain. This agreement establishes the equality of treatment of mercantile ships of the Contracting Countries in regards to port and anchorage taxes. The duration of the Agreement is 10 years and it is renewed automatically for the same duration, unless one of the contracting parties expresses the will to withdraw from it according to the terms set by the agreement.
