As of 2006, the Italian Government has funded a series of programs, whose implementation is mandated to UN Agencies such as UNICEF, FAO and UNIDO, targeting  areas such the protection of the children, of the environmental animal health and of the renewable energy. Through UNICEF, the Italian Government also intervened in December 2004 with a program of emergency rehabilitation aimed at providing for relief and shelter to the people affected by the dramatic floods  that hit Central Luzon.
