History

Diplomatic relationships between Italy and the Sultanate go back to 1972. Since then, Italy has been represented by nine Heads of Mission, the last five of which were residents in Oman since the opening of the Embassy of Italy in Muscat in 1982.

• Benito Volpi, Ambassador with L.C., September 1982.
• Francesco Sciortino, Ambassador with L.C., January 1988.
• Sergio Emina, Ambassador with L.C., May 1993.
• Anacleto Felicani, Ambassador with L.C., July 1997.
• Mario Quagliotti, Ambassador with L.C., October 1999.
• Graziella Simbolotti de Maillard, Ambassador with L.C, March 2004.
