The main aim is the assessment of the countries’ needs, the possible solutions to identify the more functional methods of intervention. The Directorate General for Development Co-operation’s interventions are therefore the fruit of a technical analysis given through the continuous contact with the needs of the three countries.

With regard to Kenya, Italy’s co-operation activities are coherent with the priority objectives defined by the Kibaki Government. Commitments are consequently determined towards good governance and the struggle against corruption (the e-Kenyan Parliament programme receives financial assistance,), education (involvement in the bettering of the educational system and national polytechnics) and the support to small and medium enterprises, all part of the Development Plan of Kenya. Italy contributes towards the Global Fund for malaria, TB and HIV/AIDS and also finances projects realized by Italian NGOs in particular those in the agricultural and health sector.
