The Embassy is a "window" of Italy in India. Our two countries are both endowed with a rich heritage and a long history. The roots of all modern European languages can be found in the Sanskrit tradition while - at the same time - most institutions of modern governance are based on the everlasting principles of Roman Law.

This website aims to provide information on the many facets of Italian life: its institutions, legislation, economic activities, culture, outlook into the world. First and foremost however, it is meant to be a tool for promoting mutual knowledge and understanding between India and Italy, thus furthering the breadth and scope of cooperation between our two countries.

I hope you will find the information contained both interesting and useful. The Embassy constantly updates its website in order to take account of recent development, and all suggestions are most welcome. The website can be accessed in English as well as in Italian, for all those who would like to practice the Italian language, as well of course for Italian nationals.
