Information Technology in Cyprus 

   
The Information Technology (IT) industry in Cyprus has been growing increasingly with more than 300 Companies, including small or large. These companies’ aim is to activate in IT products. This includes selling the latest technology of Personal Computers, Web Design, commissioning sophisticated Hardware/Software, Telecommunications, Internet Products and e-commerce.  The Software Industry in Cyprus is growing enormously, producing the latest Art of Software in most of the Business areas, with sales not only in Cyprus but as well as outside the country.  

It is important to notice the advancements that Cyprus has made between 1995-2004 in regards to its IT industry.  Between 1995-2000, the IT industry in Cyprus was growing on an average of 14.5% annually.   From the year 2002, all the elementary schools in Cyprus already had computers and connections to Internet to be used by very young students. This was encouraged in order to allow students from young age, to acknowledge the importance that IT has in peoples’ lives.  In the year 2003, Telecommunications were fully liberated in Cyprus and with the accession of Cyprus into the European Union, which took place on the 1st of May 2004, cooperation of Cypriot IT Business with businesses from abroad has been increasing rapidly.
