
Culture is an important dimension of Italian foreign policy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Oslo, which is an integral part of the Italian Embassy, is entrusted with the task of promoting Italian language and culture in Norway. Through the organization of cultural events the Institute aims at fostering the dissemination of ideas and knowledge in the humanities and sciences.
Services
The Institute offers the following services to the Norwegian public:
- a library available for consulting and borrowing books, videos, CDs and DVDs
- a reading room with Italian magazines and newspapers
- an information and documentation service on Italian culture
- information on enrolment to Italian universities and general information on Italian schools, academies and universities.
Furthermore, the Institute
- organizes exhibitions, concerts, seminars and other cultural events
- organizes updating seminars for teachers of Italian in Norway
- handles the scholarships awarded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Norwegian citizens
- takes care of the relationship with Italian lecturers teaching at Norwegian universities

- the Norwegian cultural institutions and museums such as the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design, Norsk Form, Kistefos-Museet, the Henie Onstad Art Centre, the Norwegian Film Institute
- the Cultural Institutes and Centres of other European countries in Oslo
- the Norwegian Committees of the Dante Alighieri Society
- the Norwegian Universitites and Academies
- various Norwegian Institutions under the Norwegian Ministry of Culture and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
