- Visit to Rome by the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre. Meeting with the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Massimo D’Alema (11 October)

- Meeting between the President of the Italian Council of Ministers Romano Prodi and the Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg at the margins of the NATO Summit in Riga
(29 November)

- Visit to Rome by the Norwegian State Secretary (defence) Espen Barth Eide. Meetings with Undersecretary of State Famiano Crucianelli (foreign affairs) and Undersecretary of State Giovanni Forcieri (defence). State Secretary Barth Eide met also with the Chief of the Italian Defence Admiral Giampaolo Di Paola and the Director of MFO (Multinational Force and Observers) James A. Larocco (13-15 December)

-Visit to Oslo by Undersecretary of State Famiano Crucianelli (foreign affairs). Meeting with Political Director Kai Eide and working luncheon with State Secretary (foreign affairs) Liv Monica Bargem Stubholt (7-9 February)
