As of 26 October 2006 a new electronic passport utilising modern technologies that offer higher security standards will be issued for Italian citizens. Application instructions for the new passport should remain unchanged. The cost of the passport booklet, reflecting the highly sophisticated technology utilised, is established at euros 44,66 (NOK 369,50) for a 32-page booklet and euros 45,62 (NOK 378) for one with 48 pages. The annual renewal fee (NOK 333) remains unchanged.
