The Genius of Leonardo
From May 10 in Riga Technical University, Kaļķu street 1
"Leonardo da Vinci was like a man who awoke too early in the darkness while the others were all still asleep” Sigmund Freud
Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) has been doubtless the great protagonist of the Renaissance. A full and complete genius, for his work did not limit to the art but ranged over inumerable fields: from physics to anatomy, from mechanics to astronomy. Leonardo left us an impressive quantity of drawings and drafts that anticipate many inventions of our times.
Leonardo was a passionate artist-scientist, researcher and inventor whose works still exert fascination over artists and scientists. The aim of the exhibition is to document the genius of the inventor-engineer. The exhibition is unique – its creators: scientists, industrial designers and craftsmen, have created precise models of Leonardo’s inventions.
The exhibition comprises more than 50 exhibits: flying machines, water devices, war machines, bridges, work machines and reproductions of his paintings.
The exhibition has been created by Associazione ANTHROPOS.
