Tourism is in a phase of development and investments are being made in this sector. In the latest years, many new hotels have been built and renovated, but the demand is still high and more hotels will be needed in the near future, because of the increase in the number of tourists visiting Latvia.
The number of Italian visitors increased after Latvia joined the EU; at the same time, the presence of Latvian tourists in Italy grew as well.
For the time being, there are two direct flights to and from Italy (both operated by Air Baltic, Rome-Riga and Milan-Riga). To check out other (non-direct) flights to Riga from Italy, please visit the Riga airport website at: www.riga-airport.com.
