History
Italy played an important role in Latvia’s admission to the League of Nations, opening the way to its international recognition in 1921 and not acknowledging the annexation by the USSR; moreover, Italy was among the first Countries to resume the diplomatic relations with Latvia when it regained independence. The Italian Embassy in Riga has been working since 1992.
