The framework agreement on cultural and scientific cooperation, signed in Sana'a in 1998, entered into force in 2004. The related executive protocol is being negotiated.

The scholarship programme currently allows 33 Yemeni citizens to study in Italy (university and postgraduate courses, mainly in medicine and other scientific disciplines).
