The premiere of Giacomo Puccini’s “La Rondine” at the Yerevan Opera Theatre

The Yerevan State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet was rather crowded in the evening of April 14, the evening of the premiere of Giacomo Puccini’s opera “La Rondine” staged by the Opera Studio of the Yerevan State Conservatory for the first time ever in Armenia and in the whole territory of the former Soviet Union.   This fascinating opera is present in repertoires of quite a few theatres because of considerable interpretation difficulties. Even though, the spectators were rather favorably impressed by the performance of the young artists and the comments, voiced during the reception offered by the Ambassador of Italy that followed the performance, were unanimously positive. The event, sponsored by the Fondazione Puccini, by the Italian Region Piemonte and by Renco company, marked the beginning of the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of birth of the great Italian composer.
